I have a Mini target with the laminate wood stock.
I bought a stud kit with a screw stud and a stud threaded and screwed down with a nut.
I figured where I wanted it and used the drill bit size called for in the instructions. Oce the hole was drilled I tightened the nut as much as I could. It was sticking up way proud of the wood and the stamped metal insert would not fit anymore. I cut off the bolt end and shaved the nut down with a Dremel tool. The metal piece still would not fit so I drilled a hole in it so the bolt and nut would stick through. I made sure that the gas piston was not being impeaded from going back and forth and attached my bi-pod.

It seems to work. And looks pretty cool. This is a big heavy rifle and I have no idea why it did not come from the factory with sling studs installed. Another bizarre Ruger thing.
