I just picked up a target AR upper and will shortly be looking for a bipod (along with a ton of other bits) for it.
My question is, is there much difference between Harris and the Harris clones? (Caldwell, Rock Creek etc). From what I have seen they are pretty much identical just by looking. Are the Harris bipods any more sturdy etc. The difference in price is quite a bit.

I'm thinking 6-9" or 9-13". whats a better shoice for my application?

That looks like a really nice bipod but i don't think it will work for my application. it needs to mount on the sling swivel stud on my free float tube. Not to mention I was hoping to find something a bit cheaper than that.

This is a bipod I am developing for F class shooters but it does work very well on AR and other tactical rifles. Full info in my dealer forum.

Easy on and off but doesn't fold. The one pictured is 14.5ozs installed and is rock solid in useage.

Next batch is in production for later in Jan. These will be Type 3 hard anodized matte black.

Let me know...

Jerry

PS between Harris and Caldwell, definitely the Harris.

Harris bipods tend to crack at the weld joint under hard use -- but they do replace them free of charge.

Admittedly I have a buncvh of bipods and the Harris with the Larue mount is the best.

Are the Harris clones any good or am I best to stick with a Harris?

I bought harris for my airsoft rifle.

That was around 8 years ago. It's now working as a target rifle bipod. Haven't had a reason to complain yet.

what height harris would you suggest for a target AR?

I bought a couple Harris 9-13 in swivel base with the notched legged , I dont benchrest shoot or 6-9 in works better for that I heard. The swivel base is the way to go ....and get the notched leg version as the set up is easier. There are a couple videos on it I will look for them for ya

I also added the bipod locking lever as it is easier to operate

Harris clones are garbage --

Versa-Pod's fall apart under mild usage as well.

Basically any bipod will fall apart under hard field usage -- the Harris Bipod while not as ###y as some - with the Larue mounting system - seems to be the best bang for the buck...
