I would like to buy a bipod for target shooting with my 10/22 and I would like one that can canter if on uneven ground. I am looking for suggestions as to a good make that doesn't kill the wallet as well as where I can purchase one?

Thanks.

Would you like a fore grip bi pod?

I have a harris bi pod and use it on my long range gun. They run about $70-100 bucks. The grip/bipod is in the long run less expensive since you don't need to buy both a grip and bipod. Depends if you do freehand shooting, the grip really helps.
Just my 2 cents worth!

I would like one that attaches to sling post... I don't have a rail.

The grip bipod is neat for sure if I had a rail.

I highly recommend a Harris but they arnt cheap. But the good news is you can use it on all your rifles as it comes off quick .

I went with the Harris 9-13 in swivel base with notched legs and I have 2 of them. I also added a locking lever . I believe 6-9 in is more for bench rest shooting .
The notched leg version set up easier than the smooth leg version. To extend the legs you press the button and the spring pushs the legs outwards on the notched leg ones.

When you say 9"-13" is that how high it raises the rifle or the length of legs? In the picture Chalkriver if that is a 9-13 then it doesn't look more then 6" off the ground.

Where is a good source for buying a Harris at a reasonble price?

9-13 refers to the leg length , in the pic the legs are at the shortest setting .
Keep watching the E.E or try fleabay , I got one off there a little cheaper.

Might also try the 6 - 9.
Check out Harris Enginerring on the internet.
Always a Harris - get the best and to hell with the rest.
Anyone sending a non-Harris to Kentucky for repair will probably not get it back.

Versa Pod. Adjustable dampening/lockout for tilt, pan, leveling.
Two stage legs makes the bipod more versatile (doubles your extension length from its compacted length compared to single stage legs.)

I have one harris and two caldwells (harris clones). The harris one extends/collapses much more smoothly than the cheaper (little over half the price) caldwells, but that's not very much to complain about.

Why do I own 3 of these when one can easily be moved from one rifle to the other you ask?

- Because on both the harris and the clone, the main set screw loosens and must be tightened periodically...so I just loctited the harris and subsequent cheaper ones into place. No more fiddling.

I have a 6-9" on my SR-22. Performs nicely.

Anyone ever try one of these from Hong Kong off ebay?? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/260791140828?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Let me know what you think??

I just got a UTG Tactical for my Marauder-kitted 10/22. It's a Harris clone, but seems to be much better quality than other clones I've seen. It swivels, and comes with both sling-ring and Picatinny mounts (nice - I'm using the Picatinny on the Marauder, and the sling mount on my Sako hunting rifle - two uses for the price of one). Lots of nice features, I thought. It even fits ahead of my folding foregrip, with the legs folded back on either side of it. I wanted a compact 'pod, but my main concern was that the legs would extend far enough so the long Marauder magazine would clear the ground when the legs were extended. This 'pod does that with ease.

I picked up the UTG (model TL-BP88, 14.3" extended length) at Amazon.ca for $34.95. I'm very happy with it.

Does this one pivot (canter from side to side, not just swivel) for uneven ground?

Thanks.

It doesn't "cant" at the top (at the swivel), but each leg has a knob to set the leg length at any point through its range, so uneven ground is not a problem. On even ground, just pull the legs down all the way and they automatically lock at full extension.

While I was writing this, I decided to try it, to see how easy it was to set it for uneven ground. It was dead simple - set up the rifle on the bipod, release the leg lock on the high side, let the rifle settle to level, lock it in place with a very gentle turn of the knob. Takes a LOT longer to say it than it does to do it...only takes a second. Release the knob, it automatically retracts fully (internally spring-loaded). I tried it with 3" of books under one leg - that's a LOT of unevenness, and there was zero problem leveling the gun.

Now I like this bipod even more! Thanks!!

Way easy.

Thanks for the canter clarification. I may go with this one but I would like the TL-BP78 which is the shorter one. Amazon doesn't have any in stock so I will have to track down another Canadian source. If you know any other place to get one let me know!

OK so I purchased the UTG model TL-BP88 bipod. Bought it at Amazon.ca and paid $39 shipped. I must say that I am quite impressed with it. Great quality and very sturdy unit. I am not going to say "for the price it is great" as that denotes slight inferior quality but is acceptable for the price. I WILL say that I am happy with it and it's performance, regardless of the price... BUT it sure doesn't hurt that it is a great price :D

The newer, external spring UTG units are quite nice... we have 10 or 12 of them... the older internal spring units were a little wobbly... the lower SWAT profile OP-1 is good on a Boyd's EVO stock... our Tacticals and other slim stock models have the taller Tactical profile OP-2 models... the both have adjustable legs and they pivot... the external springs keep tension on them so there is no rattling oper or closed... first pic below is the SWAT OP-1, second pic is the Tactical OP-2;

Does anyone in Canada sell these "more affordable" ones and take (FRAUD ALERT) for payment? I was going to get one on ebay from China but figured I would check here first.

Thanks.
