Bipods for Long Range Rifles

Its hard to go wrong with a harris. The swivel model makes things nice on uneven ground. Make sure to get the pod lock if you get a swivel model.
If long range F-Class stuff is your game, the Remple pod or similar Sinclaire version a really hard to beat. Pricy, but worth it.

Since you are shooting an F/tr if you put a Remple bipod on it for F/tr classification you will be limited in scope to something in the 20 oz. range. So if you have a march or nightforce scope this puts you over weight and into F/o class. I put a VX11 on my rig which is the same as yours. Hope this helps.
Rempel is about 3.5 pounds and does count against rifle weight.
While I think the Sinclair is an odd looking bipod, I do have to admit that it is extremely functional.
The enemy of 308 control is torque, and the harris lacks a wide footprint. The Rempel has weight and footprint width (and great adjustments) on its side, but may be too heavy. The sinclair has a terrific wide footprint combined with great geometrical stability and light weight.
I used a Harris for years and they certainly have advantages, but I think a purpose built F-Class bipod is a better option.
There is a carbon fiber Rempel rip-off being sold by one of the guys from Team Savage. Does everything the Rempel does, but they are fragile.

Fwiw, I had a Harris knock-off that worked reasonably well, but I couldn't find a podloc for it, and found it a tad floppy sometimes. I agree with Obtunded about the torque- my .308 jumped and twisted every time. I finally bit the bullet and bought a Rempel, and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

With a bipod you are limited in weight to 18.2lbs for your complete package gun scope pod, while a front rest is not included in the weight. If you go with a rest get one with resonable weight and easy to adjust, don't spend less than $100 for a rest as the smaller ones are generally too light and springy for long range target and they tend to not adjust up and down easily. The remple ski-pod is the top of the line but heavy,the sinclair is lighter but made for long range shooting and not so easy to set for height. As Obtunded said the harris does not have a large footprint and can torque all over the place at inopportune times.
The final choice is up to you so if you can get out to a local match and see,maybe try some of what is out there that would probably help with the decision.

F-TR does not allow a front rest......bi-pod only.
F-Open allows any rest or any bi-pod to a total gun weight of 22lbs (includes anything that recoils with the rifle)
there is a company called t-nuts that sells pod loc kits that will work for harris bipods or the knock offs, the knock off versions are usually a metric thread.

So what is the maximum weight allowance for F-TR?
The rear is unsupported?
18lbs including the bi-pod for F-TR and you may use a rear bag of any weight. A 14lb gun (including all accessories such as scope, rings, rail, etc) with a 3.5ish lb Rempel Bi-pod would be acceptable for F-TR.
22lbs for Open class including bi-pod (if attached). Using a a front BR style rest is allowed in Open class which allows for a heavier gun since the rest does not recoil with the rifle it is not included in the overall weight. A rear bag of any weight is also allowed.
