Looking for something for the range and hunting. I want something that can be easily attached and removed so I don’t have to leave it on all the time. Something like the javelin pro hunt tac. But it’s pricy, maybe worth it. Is there any other qd options to look at? Something from atlas maybe.
What do you use or recommend? How do some of the other brands attach?

Buy 1 Javelin (bipod/tripod) and all the adaptors you like. for pic rail, spotting scope, flush mount stock etc.

I run a lite on my rifles with the gunsmith or universal adaptor and my dad has a tripod with pic adaptor on his crossbow, universal on his rifles and heavy optics adaptor for spotter.

Harris bipods are good and are easy to attach and detach with only a simple flat blade like you find on your Leatherman or Swiss Army knife.

Make sure and get the style that are self leveling meaning that they can be easily canted on uneven ground. These are a little bit heavier than fixed bipods but offer a little more flexibility, especially for hunting.

The BT65 would get my vote. Strength and stability trump the few ounces you'd save elsewhere. And if you really want modularity an arca rail may be the ticket for bipod and tripod use.

Check out the Swagger QD42. Quick detach and the spring sections provide plenty of twist/tilt. Quick on/off with a button.

Having used Harris bipods for over 40 years, my commitment to Harris is based on having too many to change and their repair policy is superb.
Two bipods were forwarded to Kentucky and after repair were returned on their dime.
Imitators after the patent expired are poor reproductions.
Our 100 metre/yard rimfire shoots in the sporter and semi-auto classes require a bipod that will fold up.
This eliminates the massive pods that no one would take hunting if they had to be carried.
Harris gets my vote . . . seven to one. It will be 8 - 0 a soon as I can unload the one remaining imposter!

I don't bother with bipods... just use bags on the bench and collapsible shooting sticks in the field when necessary... I dislike moving and carrying with a bipod attached. Just my preference.

Lots of good options.
What size of bipod are people using? How tall do you need for a sitting position? I’d like to use it prone or on the bench, but in the field I’d like to be able to sit.
So far I like the atlas bt46, or the hatch bipod.

Can’t comment on sitting position, but for bench and prone I prefer 6-9” bipods. Nice thing about the atlas is you can put the legs in the 45 degree position to get it even lower for bench shooting, extend the legs a notch for a nice wide base. I’m a quadriplegic so my shooting habits will be different than most but that seems to be the most stable for me. Lower the Center of gravity the better

For a hunting bipod take a look at the Magpul one. It's reasonably light and streamlined. Folds up fairly compact with no extra springs like you would find on a Harris.

I’ve looked at that one, I like the price compared to others that are around 500. Does it use a quick attach or does it require a screwdriver to remove it from the rail?

How to turn a $60 dollar bipod into a $200 bipod:

I started with a caldwell pivoting bipod on sale at cabelas:

https://www.cabelas.ca/product/61204/caldwell-xla-pivot-bipods

Added the kahntrol podmod (which allows you to run any atlas feet), pivot lock, and atlas rubber feet from bulleyes north:

The rubber feet still made the legs spins, so I bought the atlas cleat feet from nordic:

I have one that uses the picatinny system and you need a screwdriver to remove it, but they have a sling stud attach model that appears to use just a knob and no tools. They are strong too, I sed one on my 50 BMG for a little while. The 50 was probably pushing the boundaries of it's limits but it did work without failure.
