I'm getting itch to do some dog training and since I train alone for the most part I decided I could use a remote launcher for birds. I checked the prices and they were $$$$ so I decided to make one but ended up making two. The total cost was about $70 for both as I had some scrap laying around. I got the springs from Rona ( 3/4" diameter with .080 wire diameter and length to fit each thrower.) I got a couple of universal door lock actuators and remote receiver and transmitter from Amazon along with an 8 AA battery pack to give the 12 volts. The hardest part was bending the multiple bends for the arms needed to hold the springs and remain free to move. The rest is some angle iron scrap I had with a some bar stock as well ( 1 1/4" x 1/4"). Then a little welding and fiddling and they were done. My wife made a couple of canvas launch pads for the birds. The wiring was very straight forward and work to at least 40 feet so far.
