Bird Identification Needed

Those little hunts are tasty enough, but they’re barely worth shooting because each one gives you about the amount of meat you’d get from a chicken thigh.

Most of the upland birds are like that. I wouldn't make a big trip to hunt them, but since they're hanging around the area it isn't much extra work to take a shotgun with me when I go for a walk. The neighbours are all OK with hunting their land around us, so access is easy and its all low effort. Might be good entertainment on a nice weekend afternoon.

They tend to flush in large groups, I always found it sort of difficult to pick out one or two.

Definitely look like the Hungarian or the Grey partridge. Here's an internet swipe for comparison. I'd say warm up the roast pan ! LOL
