Just wondering if any one knows where I can pick up some cheap shot up in the lowermainland to fill up a shooting rest(beanbag).

Number 4 buck or birshot are both at wholesale .

Clean, dry sand has always been the fill, thus the name sandbag.

Or if you want a lighter bag, use the plastic beanbag pellets from Michaels.

I use bulk white beans. Have also use macaroni.

Much lighter in my kit.

Any of the bags I've seen will be very heavy to carry around if filled with lead, reclaimed or otherwise. Other options at mentioned above from clean dry sand and rice are far better.

Another possible source of filler is aquarium gravel. This stuff tends to be larger than coarse sand so it doesn't get into the stitching as easily and end up cutting through it like sand might do. And it's a touch less dense and thus lighter than sand. But it's heavier than rice or other such options. It's not overly expensive either. It would be my choice for a shooter's bag if I were filling one.

Imo, shot is too heavy for a bag. It'll grow old real fast.

Maybe try a hobby store / craft store, for a rubber/plastic substitute. Far less toxic, too.
Airsoft pellets might work well.

I want weight to sink the gun into and could care less about non-toxic after 100 years of use.
