My kids got together an bought me a shiny new 20 gauge auto loader for my birthday,due to the fact that my old model 12 and I never really got along.I took "stubblejumper's" advice to check the fit and got an eye full of middle rail.Now when you change shims ,do you leave the one already in the gun and add a shim or remove the original? New to fitting shotguns
 
Remove the one currently on the gun. Beretta shims are labeled for cast and drop. Whatever manufacturer you have, just read the manual.
 
Remove the current shim, and install the one that drops the butt stock down the most, without changing the cast. This will be the shim thickest on top but the same thickness on both sides. If the rib is not centered left to right, use the shim thicker on one side. Just a guess, but is the gun a Beretta or other Italian made gun?

The gun is actually an "ATA Mirage 20 gauge" Looks pretty well made.Going to try shooting trap. Went to a gun club during their trap shoot and some of those guys and gal's were pretty darn good at it.Hopefully I don't embarrass myself to bad. Being a family gift she will be a keeper.
 
If you are going to use it mostly for trap, having a higher point of impact is actually fine. Most trap/skeet places will have a patterning board that you can use to help dial it in.
 
Thanks to stubblejumper on how to fit my shotgun. I took my shotgun to the local club today and after the kind members gave me some tips on how to "lead my shots" I had a great days shooting.My ATA Mirage shotgun worked flawlessly.Got myself a new hobby:dancingbanana:
