bizarre experience with Canada Ammo / Canpar

Just out of curiosity where in the GTA are you located for the depot to be 1.25 hrs away?

I purchased some bulk ammo from Canada Ammo. I phoned Canpar to try to make arrangements for the second delivery attempt and all I can say is I seriously don't know how that company stays in business. If they went under I could care less

To put things in context let's not forget Canada Ammo specializes in selling relatively lower end firearms and discounted ammo. It's probably not reasonable to expect Holt Renfrew type customer service if you're buying $30 made in Malaysia pants at Walmart

Go to Canpar tracking page, there's a link at the bottom for a notice to have them leave it at your door (or specific instruction). Print it out and leave it by your door and Canpar would follow the instruction (like put it inside my garage)

Done this more then once. I asked them to put it behind the gate at the side of my house (it's 10 feet away from door). They also take the notice so people won't read it if they come to your door and take it

As far as I know all postal companies make only 2 attempts. If you know you will not be home then call and make arrangements. I fail to see how the retailer comes into play or is in any way at fault.

Interesting.

I have issues with many couriers, getting deliveries to construction sites, which while we are building, only "kind of" have a civic address, so to speak. Canpar to date has been the only single courier company (the big names included here), that has never been an issue for me.

Not pumping sunshine up their a$$es, but just stating a n observed fact. UPS and Purolator, I have zero confidence in for deliveries to my location(s).

Canpar have the option that let's you sign a waver to give them permission to leave a parcel at the door or at the neighbours.

I always just leave instructions in the notes for canadaaammo to use canada post or ups. I've found them very accommodating about that and even reshipping, if there was a mistake as long as it was in the notes to not use canpar. I've been happy with canadaammo's service and will buy again.

Canpar on the other hand, I can never get a package from them and the depot is hours away. Many people don't expect a courier that is hours away and that only holds your package for five days and is open only during most people's working hours.

I thought canada ammo switched to ups as default courrier when dangerous goods are shipped.

I posted a complaint a while back and the thread got a million replyes of the "I hate canpar too" kind, with a few "I don't have problem with canpar" between them.

Whenever I shop at canada ammo now I ask for ups. I outright refuse to buy from business who ships through canpar unless I'm gonna save 75$ or more, or if what I (really!) want is only available at that store.

I'm not easily displeased by customer service type stuff and I never really mind when mistakes happen but canpar managed to do just that with the horrible BS I had to deal with 2 weeks ago. I never heard the guy knock at my door and mind you I have a 9 month old dog barking at the most stupid noises, then I had to pick up my order literally 25minutes away from home without traffic and their opening hours are garbage. I had to plan my day ahead james bond style so I don't end up in traffic but I ended up sleeping a mere 3 hours as it was the best solution. I was greeted by a guy who forgot to give me my second package, it was pretty obvious a shotgun and over 500 rounds doesn't weight 4 pounds, then he gave me a comment about my order already knowing what's inside. I might be overreacting overall but it doesn't change the fact I am willing to pay more or just simply cancel my order if I have to deal with Canpar as my only option.

You chose to not inquire about their method of shipping. If you want to avoid using Canpar, actually put some effort into it. If you decide to not drive and pick up the packages available to you from Canpar again that's your choice and not the fault of either the shipper or retailer. If you're frustrated with yourself don't take it out on the retailer. Maybe eating the cost of shipping will help you realize your responsibility here.

Are you for real????? He paid for shipping, and now they expect him to drive 75 minutes to pick it up on top of it.
it seems you live under a rock somewhere in Manitoba, if not you would know by now how sh*tty these carrier companies are.

Nothing bizarre at all, that's normal for Canpar, what's worse is when you drive the many kilometers to the depot at the described time and nobody is there. With all the trouble I wonder why these venders list them as a shipping option.

You are right the vendor choose to deal with a sh*t show like canpar, it is the vendor's responsibility to get the goods to you after he charged you for shipping plus tax on the shipping.

Oh I fully learned my lesson. Its "don't buy from this vendor again". I take responsibility for myself not doing my due diligence in the transaction, and accept that it cost me 25$. Im happy it wasn't more. That said, I know plenty of vendors that would go way beyond what this one has in the customer service department, and will continue giving them my business instead.

No you didn't learn your lesson.
Unfortunately 98% of the vendors are like this, once they sacked in your money you are on your own.
So sad, but true.

Can par used to be bad but now they leave your package at smart locations. Ear your house. At least this is the case in Toronto area.

OP you can claim your money via CC company for items not delivered
