BL-C(2) 38-55 Loads

Hi everyone,

I have been looking for some hard data on reloading 38-55 with BL-C(2).
The internet is full of references to people using it, but I have been unable to find any published load data for cast 250 grain bullets.

Could someone guide me in the right direction?

I have seen loads for the 38-55 and 250 gr cast bullet with BLC-(2) in the 36.0 to 38.0 gr range producing no more than 28K psi, but it wasn't "published" in a load manual. I have seen published loads for 35.0 grs of IMR-4895 (which with that powder is a full case), so 36.0-38.0 seems reasonable.

I have good results with 8Gr of Promo/Red Dot.Far more economical load.

Hmmm, for the published load for 38-55 using H4895 which is just a bit faster than IMR 4895, the starting load is listed as 21 grains with a max load of 25 grains with 26.500 cup.

See what I mean? Not a confidence builder when there is such a variance in load data.

I put 20 grains of BL-C(2) in a 38-55 case and the case was about 1/3 full. Even with a faster burner rifle powder, that seems like a dangerous load with so much empty space in the casing.

I loaded up some 255 grainer's with 32 grains of 4895. Not a gallery load, lol. Shot mine out of a a '94 rifle with that curved buttplate that rests below the shoulder / high on the arm...sheepskin buttpad, STAT!
