Black and Green

Most "tactical" style firearms come in either black or green "furniture". That means they have black or green stocks/handguards, grips, etc... The original M-16 was known as "The Black Rifle." Since the 60's, the term "Black Rifle" & more recently, "Green Rifle" have become associated with either full auto/assault rifles as issued/used by actual militaries around the world, as well as semi-auto, civilian "sporting" rifles such as the AR-15, AR-180B, Swiss Arms PE-90, etc...

While not technically black or green, the CZ858, VZ-58, AK-47, AK-74, etc...are generally lumped in with them because they basically share the same general "tactical" niche in terms of range, firepower & intended purpose. They can be equally well discussed under Milsurps. If you want to get really technical, there are aftermarket stock kits for many of these traditionally wood stocked firearms that will make them "black" rifles. Others are being newly manufactured with modern synthetic furniture with/without picatinny rails, etc...i.e., VEPR AK variant, etc...
