well, this weekend was productive. I was in on the Black Badge Course at the lower trent valley range this weekend with a great group of guys. (and one girl too :D) A great time was had by all and the majority of the assisting staff was outstanding.

We did our first match. It was a great time. I cant wait to get out there and become a part of this organization since it seems to be a great group of people.

Hi jezzder
you guys did very well on that course, and outstanding on the Levle I match after.
I was the fat English guy shooting the match after with the browning shirt on :)
I was happy to see alot of production gun in the course as well as lot of 20 somthing guys taking the course.
Props has to go to Earl, pat and dan for all the work they did, you could see that in how the students shot in the match after.
As well as Wolf for coming and showing the guys and girls how its really done, and that even is you spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ on a pistol that you have to be good with reloads as any gun can jam.
I hope to start a thursday night ipsc night at the club for any one to come out and shoot, just a few $$ to cover the targets and patches

Does this mean that my son and I are going to resolve our disputes with a firefight, now??

Welcome to the club kid! Bring your gun when you come home........ it's LESSON TIME!!

Pat Warner was fantastic, as were Earle D., Dan S. and Mark F. Pat was right, that is the most fun one can have standing up with your clothes on. I had so much fun with that course and match that I'm still coming down off the adrenaline high. It was a really great group, with not too much cheesy bravado from the young pups who were there, just a lot of enthusiasm. Nice to see a woman participating too. Mark has emailed the results and I'm surprised that I did as well as I did (though not 'well' at all, but that will come with practice). Now I just have to remove the springs from my legs (I'm the guy who, apparently, bounces when drawing). Thanks for a great weekend everyone. I look forward to practicing what I learned.

The Black Badge course last weekend was awesome. I loved being "one of the boys!!" The instructors were great and very helpful if you needed extra hints on certain aspects of shooting. I can't wait to go to the matches and I hope to see all of my classmates there!!! You guys ROCK!!

Cheers!

hmmm...just curious about the "Level 1" match. I don't see it listed on the match schedule which means it wasn't sanctioned. I'm guessing this was in fact a Club Level Match...

i,m guessing that that meens the students cant use it as there
1st match then??

You are correct Sir.

It is somewhat traditional for the students to put together an ad hoc series of stages after a BB course to try things out.

BUT!

That does not stand as a qualifier.

To be a qualifier the match must
1) be level 1 or greater
2) be sanctioned ( ie on the schedule)
3) mission fees must be paid by the club to IPSC Ont.

So while they certainly sound like they had fun and they shot safely they are not qualified as of yet.

Best get out to a nice level II match like the EESA Blizzard Beach Blast!!! I still have 3 slots open for the Sunday afternoon.

I was on the course as well, and our cards were signed and everything by the instructors. Also, I would think they know their stuff. I personally would be surprised to see that match not count to be honest.

There is no such provision in the Red Book (I assume you are talking about the IPSC Rule Book). It sounds like IPSC Ontario Policy to promote safety at their matches.

This isn't really the proper forum for IPSC Ontario related business but this is probably already confusing enough for anyone reading so I'll clear it up to avoid future issues...

This is an IPSC Ontario policy and it's pretty clear...sorry for the confusion but it won't count as a qualifier. Your instructor will be in touch...no big deal.

If you want to discuss it further, my contact info is on the Website and feel free to give me a call.

Cheers
