Hi there,

This might be a silly question but here I go: When you take a black badge course lets say with a Glock 22, are you only certified to use that firearm with holsters or are you allowed lets say to use a Beretta Px4 Storm in a holster too???

Thanks very much for your help :)

Yup, once you pass the BB you can use any gun that is legal for IPSC. And that goes for any division too, if you qualify with a Glock you can immediately change and shoot a 1911 in Classic, an STI in Standard or a race gun in Open.
The onus in on you to make sure you have learned the different operation of the other gun but all the same safety rules apply.

Passing the black badge does not restrict you to the firearm you took the course with.
It's to provide a level of experience and confidence that can be used with pistols and firearms in general

If you were planning on a more drastic transition, say to a 1911 I would suggest getting together with an instructor or experienced shooter for a runthrough on the differences.

sorry to bring this thread back up.....

If you don't finish two matches that is a whole other situation.

what does that mean?

If i get my Black Badge, and dont do an IPSC competition for a year or 2 will it expire or something.. for now i just want it so i can holster on the range and practice that way

You have to shoot a sanctioned match to get you actual black badge within a year of taking the course because your provisional card expires.
Not finishing, could mean getting DQ'd and two DQ's in a twelve month(not membership year) period can lead to a suspension and a recert.

It depends on the policies and procedures specific to your Province, although generally they are pretty similar.

what is an "annual" though? I've never heard of that in the context of ipsc
