Black bear but brown?

Some really great photos and neat stories. Thnx for sharing guys!

A friend and I just did a overnight backpack hunt for spring black bear. 4 bears seen. 2 blondes, 1 chocolate, and 1 actual black bear. So color phase black bear can be quite common. (Most of the Bears were spotted in a recently logged valley.)

In certain areas of BC they’re close to half the bears. The only ones that really surprise you are the blue or white, only seen one of each ever and both for a fleeting second. Goal is to get good portrait photos of each, can’t hunt either the glacier (blues) or kermodes (white) in BC except with the camera.

For the average outdoorsman who sees a grizzly or two a year, the risk is about like getting struck by lightning. The debate looms large on the best chambering for lightning defence.

I know multiple guys that have been mauled by bears, I don't know anyone that's been hit by lightning.
