Black bear down on June 6th 2017

Pretty tough animal to moan twice with his organs hanging out. Sounds like he went pretty quick though. I love your BBQ pics and yes, I would definitely make sure it's fully cooked. Trichinosis is a horrible experience I hear.

Where did you get your camera and mount? I'm also interested in recording from my stand.

The camcorder I have is a Panasonic HDC-HS250 HD camcorder with hard drive its an older camcorder but I like its size and capable to take full 1080p videos.

I have purchased a Muddy Camera arms at BPS but that thing must weight over 5 pounds and its too heavy so I ended up bought one like this at Princess Auto on sale for 5 bucks and its so light and pack easily in the back pack.

You can see the camera was mounted on the top left corner in the pic on the tree, it is not the most sturdy mount out there and guess will not hold the weight of a DSLR but will do on any palm size camcorder similar to the one I have.

Nicely done. Great video and photos. I've still got almost two weeks to go and seeing your posts makes me want that bbq too!

Thanks Bro!

Yeah go at them while you can.

This is my first time hunting Spring bear just make sure you have your Thermacell and Watkins repellent lotion (this stuff is not greasy and you can put on your face and neck and doesn't smell).

Congrats on the bear and thanks for the tip on the mount. I mounted my GoPro session on my bow sight and the resulting video wasn't what I'd hoped for...as soon as I released the arrow the vibration made for less than perfect footage, not to mention when I immediately lowered the bow to see which direction he went. Next time I will use a mount on the tree and the one you've suggested looks perfect.

I too BBQ'd some steaks for the wife and kids when I got home. They loved it!

Congrats to your bear too!

Very nice pics and video.

I did found most action cam is nice for wings shooting or duck hunting when you move around and target is much closer but if you are hunting big game especially on a treestand there is no optical zoom on these cam thus make the target very small sometimes hard to view that's why I was hoping my Ricoh action cam will take decent overall video while my dedicated camcorder can zoom in for a closer view but I was too cheap to spend on a quality mount and it broke off before the hunt.

By the way how did your daughter like her new bow bag any game with it yet?

Cheers

Congrats on the bear. Man seeing this bugs me. I would be out this spring as well going for one but my back is messed up. Awaiting consult with neurosurgeon for back surgery. Got a bear last spring though. Just made up the last batch of sausage from it. Will be sad when I run out without being able to get another. Hopefully be able to next year.

Bear was taken by my Tikka T3 300wm with winchester 180 gr soft point at around 40 yards, he ran about 20 yards and start moaning.

My guide set me up with an ozonics and the bear came straight to sniff my scent and licking his nose several times towards me but don't know if I am a threat or not and I decided to take him when I have a shot worrying he may not be stick around much longer whether if I was busted or not.

And the boar start moaning around 0:08 mark

Thanks for your kind words and I understand your frustration and hope you have a speedy recovery and back in the field again.

She loves it! She hasn't bagged anything with it yet but when she does, will send you pics for sure!

Nice, I am sure she is as good a hunter as her father and bagging game it's just a matter of time in the near future!

I am not brave enough yet to use my bow for bear worry wounding them and tracking a wounded bear in the bush is no fun especially they have teeth lol.
