Seems like the bear was hungry went to Albertsons and young moose was there to be had! I didn't see the mother putting up much of an objection!
Maybe she was the weak link ,as some mothers are all it takes to change the outcome! She might have been very young! Bears got to eat too,same as us!

I've only seen 5 bears up at my hunt camp (outside of the local dump lol) in all of the last 16 years i've gone up there. 4 of the bears were in the last 2 years...soon as we drove into the camp last summer there was a female with 2 cubs right in the middle of the laneway. when we get to the camp there are bear tracks ALL over the laneway (differnet sizes atleast 3 bears) and there was even bear prints on the windows. i think they are making a pretty good comeback and this is just going to drive the deer and moose populations down even further
