The wolf will cave in. I have personally seen one eagle keep three wolves from the meat they were after. Not saying they are cowards, but they just won't fight to keep something.
They won't defend their life against a man when they are wounded, either. I have had encounters with several, different wolves, one wolf at each occasion and none made any attempt, whatsoever, to defend themselves. I have walked up on a wolf I had wounded with a rifle. The wolf was standing on all fours, so not terribly badly wounded. I walked up to feet from him, trying to get a spot where I could shoot him again in the body with a heavy calibre, so as not to harm the skull.
He made absolutely no attempt to attack, or harm me, from six feet away.
Thus, all this bull sh$t you hear on here from people with no knowledge of wolves, and a hell bound opinion that a wounded wolf will get him/her, if they don't kill it and of course they need a large caliber gun, at least a twelve gauge with slugs or buck shot, is basically just bullsh$t.
