Not heard of any sightings up here(Yukon) but they should be out soon if not already, it was real warm the last few weeks with snow melting like crazy! We are not allowed to bait here in the Yukon so it is all spot and stalk, the way I like it anyway!

I don’t see plugs in the bush until there’s dandelions on my lawn. Right now there’s still snow..

Edit to add. I have had bears hit beaver carcasses early. Ignored the bait barrel full of carbs/sugar for 1.5-2 weeks but eventually did come back.

Not yet, but started baiting today. I was gifted 700-800 lbs. of squid for bait (should work well.) I will get trailcams back out tomorrow.

Season opens the 15th but they’re definitely out and about with the temps we’ve been having. I won’t be running a bait this year but I’ll buy a tag just in case I run into one when I’m out shed hunting.

Drove through a portion of BC yesterday (lower mainland to Kamloops)

Still some snow at the peaks but starting to look like spring in others. Didn’t notice any bears along the grassy edges or hillsides but I was driving.

Still a little early for me. (Season opens April 1st here.) I usually don’t start hunting to May.

I will keeps my eyes open on the way home as well!

We’ve got two showing up on the property these last few weeks. 3 weeks until the spring hunt.

Going to sit over bait for the double rifle this year

Ticks and gophers are definitely up.

Apparently a few smaller black bears have been seen in the lower valley bottoms. (not by me)

Grizzlies are up and at 'em. Saw their tracks in February already.

^^ Yeah, some think bears, just looking at a fish, makes them taste "fishy". They have no clou.

But yet they eat a ton of grass in spring but it doesn't make them taste "grassy" ?

I prefer eating fish over grass ! But to each their own... , lol

Just wanna add that the main meal deal ,is with beavers . But
I have 100 liter barrels that I have cut about 1 1/2 holes in them ..
Pour in a mix of rolled oats and molasses , like candy for them
Then chain to it to a tree with about 15' of slack for them to roll the barrel around
Have seen where they keep coming back to this for weeks after the beavers are gone
