Black Chroming.... good idea?

I did some research and found that Industrial Black chrome is as hard as normal chroming, have less friction (with some oil, it will glide better) but have almost no rust protection compare to Hard Chrome.

I had an FEG BHP pistol for many years. The slide was hard chromed black and the frame was hard chromed silver. Looked great and was very durable! After many thousands of rounds all the slide had were two small marks about 1mm around in the finish. I am actually thinking of getting my 1911 slide hard chromed black. The grey finish that someone mentioned is Np3 and is done by Robar in the US. My father has a 38 Super 1911 done in this finish. Very durable, looks great and is self-lubricating. Also one of the most resistant finishes against corrosion. After 10 odd years of use the pistol still looks brand new. Because the changes to the import export things I think it would be impossible now to get a gun part sent to Robar to be Np3 coated.
