Black Forge?

ive handled one at a store here in wpg. some people say that they are no good, however im not sure why. Ive never shot one, but the fit and finish was nice, the safety switch and charging handle were smooth. Plus they have a life time warrante, so i dont see how you can go wrong. Its still on my "watch list" for my upcoming fist AR purchase.

I picked one up today it runs good. I used Amer eagle ar.233 ammo shot very nice. But it lacks rear optics (aiming is a chore) for the price it is a good investment

I just purchased one yesterday. If the RCMP willing I will have paperwork and transfer in place to test it out this weekend.
Picked up a couple spam cans of norinco ammo as a dirty test run. Results forthcoming.

Fit and finish has exactly 0% to do with quality, especially in the AR world.

Black Forge is ####. End of story.

Windham's are awesome, best value for the money. Anything cheaper is that price for a reason. Norc's, NEA's, Black Forge, and those plastic ones Can am is trying to flog all have one thing in common. Cheap crap.

I would have died laughing watching you try and hit paper at the range with no rear sight or optics... Lol

Some of us can't justify big money on a rifle that can only be used at the range. I'm of the opinion that AR's are like pizza and ###. "Even when it's bad it's still pretty good." I know they aren't top of the line rifles Mr."blah blah I've got tons of disposable income..... blah blah" whatever. Thanks to the guys with real feed back that have seen and handled these.

I agree. I get frustrated when someones sole response is that "its garbage, its crap" and yet they dont actually explain why its crap.

So if you didn't want people's opinions, even unsubstantiated ones, why did you ask?

I've never handled an NEA, but having seen their trajectory of awesome here from the first announcement of their AR line, I know that I will never buy anything from the company. Maybe Dietz has some experience that he didn't elaborate on, or maybe he's a Knights fanboy who thinks everything else is crap.

In the end, budget ARs are budget ARs for a reason, but if it gets you into the game and you can afford it, giv'er and have a blast.

Just buy sights first.

You didn't get the answers you want so honest opinions from d#$k heads with disposable incomes is what you've come up with.
I have 2 kids and my wife is on maternity leave. My income is not anywhere near disposable. But I have no problem managing the money I make. I'll save up for months to get the gun I want, instead of what I can afford that day.
Your money is your money. Your mind was made up before you posted obviously, You get what you pay for end of story.

Actually I asked for opinions on the Black Forge rifles on their own. Not as compared to a gun that costs 3x as much. That's like asking someone to compare a Corvette and a Yugo. I'm definitely in the Yugo category for money. My local small gun shop can get the Black Forge guns and I try to support local business when I can. I Googled them and all I got were AK reviews from the U.S. (the AK's get good reviews) My mind is far from made up I'm just trying to figure out if the lower end ARs that are a couple of hundred bucks more are really that different from a Norinco.

That couple hundred bucks over the Nork gets you 10 times the rifle....the specs look good on paper for Black Forge, basically only lacking chrome lined barrel which for us means very little.

I had mine out to the range yesterday for some speed drills. Virgin rifle and optic and first shot was on steel, everybody was surprised. Especially me.
Had a couple minor problems with stock metal mag not seating and one where one of my Hera mags went up into the chamber blocking the bolt. Rifle shot well for myself and an ex army buddy and I would say its not the fanciest out there but good value for the dollars. Was running norinco 55gr from spam cans. Will post more info after this weekend when we will put a few hundred through and see how it groups on paper. If anyone wants more details can pm me.
