They got m14 mags starting at 8 dollars and some change! I grabbed 2 of those cheap ones 2 thermold m14 mags at 14 some dollars( sonce I like them so much in my rfb) one cheap 30 round for the m14 ( 9 some bucks) and also 2 thermold for my rfb

Thanks for the links. I wasn't sure which ones your OP was referring to.

I've never heard of those manufacturers before. I wonder if they function properly

I actually hear negative things about the national magazine. But at tge price it was worth a try. Mixt reviews on the thermold but there flawless in my rfb so I want to try them for weight saving.

What have you heard? I recently got a 20/5 mag that was made in the US (national?), according to the store clerk. The finish is a smoother parkerize than that of the usual norinco mags. I have no complaints about the Norinco mags. But this latest US made one was very hard to fit into the receiver. Norincos, E-Landers, and an unknown brand 5rnd shorty I bought here in EE-CGN are nowhere near as hard to fit in and remove. After inserting it and removing it several times the were considerable portions of the mag that had all the pakerizing and some body metal rubbed off into plain shiny bright metal. I haven't shot it yet, so I cannot comment as to its reliability.

This new US made magazine is not limited to 5rnd with the usual norinco long tongue follower, nor with regular pop rivets. Instead, it has triangular shaped indentations on the metal mag body that have been punched/crimped in to stop follower travel. You find three of these indentations on different sides of the magazine body.

The floorplate is not welded. Complete disassembly is possible albeit tricky as you have to wiggle the spring and the follower past the indentation restrictions. I'm not sure you'll be able to disassemble it without the help of a simple tool like a screw driver or a cleaning rod segment. In short, I personally prefer the Norinco long tongue follower with a non-welded floorplates over these US made ones.
