Black Gun: Quebec's patrol carbine competition, Sept 28th 2013

I'm at noon (rifle) and 16h30 (pistol). see you tomorrow.

Until yesterday evening, i was unsure which rifle to use; my SPR type AR or my pimped-out CZ858, on which i had just replaced the red-dot for iron sights.
So on thursday night, i went to zero the irons on the CZ... and it gave me a nice 1.5inch group at 50m.
thus, i'll be packing CZ's tomorrow, the 858 and the shadow.

but of course, i'll bring the AR as a backup

That was a fantastic event! We almost didn't make it. Fortunately everyone was already running late! It was awesome getting to meet everyone that attended.

I started an AAR thread:

I personally really enjoyed the shoot!
I have 8minutes of vid I will add later this week...
I want to also add I was very impressed with the range officers and how well everything was organized.
We need more people to support these events.
I have some good guys and shooters from Ottawa that will come next time.
Thanks Again for making this happen...

Just got home... WOW, the event was amazing.. Everybody was helpful and friendly. Easy for beginners to ease into and challenging for more experienced shooters. Definitely learned a lot and met some great people. We got some nice swag too, especially since I left my hat and forgot to pack a spare t-shirt lol Looking forward to coming out again and hoping more people show up from out of province. Thank you for organizing this and thanks go out to all the volunteers who made it happen! Great job guys!

Something very different about this event was that even people without holster certs were welcomed and could get involved safely. That's how you GET people into action shooting and the more the merrier

I had a great time officiating and participating in the shoot! It was my third event with the PPC league and it gets better each time. It was cool to see shooters from all different backgrounds chatting it up in a freindly environment and seeing how others kit themselves out. I hope these kinds of matches continue. A big thanks to Memnoch and the others who made it happen!!

Looks to me to be an excellent training tool for people to develop "all position" shooting ability - also looks like great fun. I think the 'black rifle' could breathe new life into PPC in Canada.

At my club there's a rifle revival as well, thanks to the black rifles and the action crowds too.. Either on IPSC or PPC nights they like to have a bit of black rifle fun (planning on joining in once I get my holster cert).. Until recently, there was a MAJOR war on rifles going on... Started with the red rifles and the steel core ban, continuing with requiring a restricted license to become a member and one of the directors stated how it would be a great idea to go handgun only. All of a sudden they started organizing black rifle shoots.. In the past month they did more than in the year leading up to it. If it continues, there will be hope still for the rifle shooters.
