Hey guys,

I'm purchasing a new scope, but I've had a few opinions from friends. Don't know what I should do. Should I get a black scope, or silver? I will be mounting this on a Model 70 Stainless 30-06. I know the Silver will look the best with this rifle, but I will be hunting big game with this, and don't want this to affect the hunt. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Matte black. Here's why. No one's stainless is exactly the same. Odds are the rifle and scope will nto be the same shade of silver and, if you're persnickity like me, it will drive you batsh*t. Best way to get around this is to go stainless bases and matte black rings and scope. My brother has this combination on his A-Bolt SS and it looks great. Or simply fgo matte black for everything (rings, bases and scope) and save yourself the hassle.

Personally I don't like silver scopes but it's not my rig!

Keep in mind that your stainless steel barrel and action will not match your aluminum scope.

Take your rifle down to your dealer and lay the parts all down together and have a look. I think you might change your mind about the silver look.

A gunmetal Leupold would be pretty hard to beat for looks, IMO. Otherwise, matte black looks good with anything. Silver/stainless never quite match up right.
