Update at the 24 hour mark;
The acetone nail polish remover stuff is not having much effect, in the list of ingredients, acetone is first, followed by water and then a long
list of unpronounceable chemicals. Perhaps un-diluted stuff from CT would work better. I will keep this bottle for removing lacquer and tell my
daughter to get something less toxic for her finger nails.
The brake fluid has even less effect, all it seems to do is to soften whatever it is put on, making it a little easier to scrape off.
The tuolene lacquer thinner is working best, but still not "good". It takes quite a bit of scrubbing to get the cheap paint off and does not work
on the BBQ paint on the receiver and barrel. I wonder if it is a powder coating of plastic or some such, it is tough.
Underneath the cheap black paint on my SKS gas piston, there is other serial numbers electro penciled under the latest electro penciling.
Underneath the cheap black paint on my bolt (not bolt carrier) there are old wear marks from sliding on the receiver.
Underneath the cheap black paint on my gas tube, there is two other sets of serial numbers electro penciled and the bluing is very poor.
There does not seem to be bluing underneath the tough BBQing on the receiver and barrel.
Interesting! (to me, at least)
