Maybe all you guys that think this old round is dead best take a peek here. He's shooting at station seven, the pigs are in the Middle of your screen, watch them fall.

Black powder, with a plain based cast bullet.

I've taken deer and bear with it at much shorter ranges. Frankly I was surprised it had the oomph to bowl over the 300 meter pigs consistently.
My rifle, or maybe it's me, isn't up to that kind of shooting, but this guy shoots a hell of a lot more than me.
Without looking it up, that would be about 1200 maybe 1250 fps at the muzzle, with a 215 grain cast bullet.

And yeah, we need ranges like that in Canada, LOTS of them!

I watched the puff of smoke out the end of the barrel and then the targets.
Funny how the targets fell forward instead of backwards.
Great to watch shooters that can stretch the legs of these old lead pushers.

Found a thread where he did the same with peep sights: http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php?topic=23085.20

Based on an estimated bc of .14, a velocity of 1,300 f.p.s., and a sight height of .5" the calculator indicates a drop of 103" at 300 yards but the target was 330 yards. The 400 yard drop is 224". Since the additional 30 yards is about 1/3 of the additional 100 yards, then 224-103/.33 = 143" drop /3.3 (330 yards)= + 43 minutes sight adjustment which was pretty close.
