I would mount a big flintlock lock on a wooden block over the touchhole "keep it easily removable" and fire it with a lanyard......Boom.

Now we are talkin!, that Ideally in something like a 3 pounder field gun would be what I want eventually. That's almost a 75mm gun, that would punch some nice holes and still wouldn't be completely ridiculous to feed.
