Hi

I have no experience with black powder or muzzle loader, so dont be all technical ;)

I was looking online and on CGN about black powder rifle, and then i found that a few people here are actually shooting with a canon! Ok i guess it's my inner child coming out but I WANT ONE! ;)

Ok seriously i dont really want one, but im really curious to know where can you use something like that? Any gun range? or you need a special field/range?

anyhow i will go back to reality and look for my first black powder rifle ;)

But please if you have more info about canon im more than interested to hear from you!

Cannons are great fun, i love mine. Miss the old girl while im away at school here. They can be fired pretty much anywhere. They require no licience or paper work at all. But they arent allowed to shoot led shot. Only citrus :D

I shot alot of blackpowder too, im sure some of the older gents will chime in and offer there input as well.

Buried in the thread on the Victoria rendezvous, you will find one of the citrus cannon shoot. Only fresh citrus fruit can be shot and use too much powder and you juice the orange :>)

cheers mooncoon

A pop or beer can is 2 5/8" diameter.
My cannon and mortar both use pipe that is 2 3/4" ID, so I use a sheet of newspaper as wadding. I fill the pop cans with concrete, and use a 35mm film container (remember those?) of black powder for the mortar and two containers for the field gun.
Good fun!

the club here has a beauty "napoleon" cannon they use for cossack reinactment.
not historically correct but no one really give a shyt. it's a lot of fun to touch off.
last weekend was the Ukranian festival and all we did was eat and make smoke and chat with visitors at the cossack camp.
lots of fun.

Well after reading alot, and asking myself what i want VS what i need, i chose that a perfect first cannon would be a 1/2 scale 24 pounders Coehorn Mortar. The bore is perfect for a pop can size projectile. Im going to build a traditional civil war type base for it.

I will post some pics when i get the barrel, and i will probably start a new thread when i start building the base :)
