black powder cartridges manuals?

Paul Mathews has a couple of books on the subject that are quite good i have heard.....BP Cartridge reloading is very diff. than smokeless, as most info will be of the "how to" variety and not show actual loads. The loads depend on the bullet you are using and the chamber/throat of your particular rifle. All components must fit in the case, with the bullet touching the rifling, and no airspace in the case, powder must be drop tubed or compressed and all should fit as above. Loading BP is very interesting once one realizes the theory and the experimenting you can do!

I have the lyman and paul matthews book, lyman is very basic and matthews goes very indepth. There is also a book by Mike Venturino that I have not seen yet. Most ofthese are available from buffalo arms in the states and they have no trouble shipping to Can..

There's "SPG Lubricants BP Cartridge Reloading Primer" by Mike Venturino and Steve Garbe, which covers 32-40 through to 50-140, and "Shooting Buffalo Rifles of the Old West" by Venturino which covers 40-70 Bottleneck through to 50-90.
Paul Matthews wrote "Loading the Black Powder Rifle Cartridge", and several others.
There's also "Loading Cartridges For The Original 45-70 Springfield Rifle And Carbine" by J.S and Pat Wolf, which goes into tremendous detail of load development using both smokeless and black.
They are all good reading.
