Hey guy's just got my conversion from kirst,any suggestions for a couple of good loads? Mine's a 36 cal 1851 Navy, I would like some low pressure smokeless loads although I fully intend to fire lots of black powder through it.Anybody use 777 out there? Any help I could get would really be appreciated. Thanks Greg

I'm using .357 balls for blackpowder but I guess a bullet recomendation would be very helpful too. I thought I would keep them light to reduce the pressure. I currently use trail boss in my Uberti 1873 and like it, but like I said I'd like to keep the pressure down one this at least at first till I test it a bit.

Unless your Navy has been sleeved, it should have a .375 bore. I've read some evaluations of regular .357 bullets fired in un-sleeved conversions, and while they were capable of putting all six rounds on paper the accuracy was less than awe inspiring. So, your best options are to either use a hollow based .357 bullet, or use the more traditional heel-based bullet.
Hollow based wadcutters are readily available, and with a custom mould you can cast hollow based round noses. I've seen vendors selling the heel based bullets, but the trouble is getting them into canada. Plus the heeled bullets are exterior lubed, which can be a bit messy to handle.
