black powder hunting

Sorry for the noob question, I can't seem to find anny info on this.

I know that there is manny companies taht make different weapon that are all loaded differently.

Keepping this in mind would it be legal to hunt whit a .45 colt loaded whit black powder ammo in a lever action during the black powder season?

Somewhere in the hunting regulations the muzzleloader equipment requirements will be spelled out. Min caliber etc.
