Has anyone ever tried black powder in 9 mm?

I got this idea thinking from perspective of doomsday scenario and zombie fighters together. Scenario is; smokeless would be hard to obtain, and BP would be only thing you could possibly make yourself. And it would be abundance of 9mm weapons lying around to be picked. Sooo… general question would be BP in modern guns. YES/NO/WHY?Etc…

Would it be worthwhile to try?

I don't think this would work out too good for a couple reasons. First would be case capacity, you would be looking a similar ballistics to a .38 S&W, which probably would not cycle the action. Second, IF it did cycle I doubt it would for very long due to fouling. Some revolvers can begin binding up after a couple cylinders full of BP due to fouling on the base pin and cylinder face. Run a few mags through your P210 and let me know how you make out!! :D:D.
Oh yeah, remember to clean when your done!

there's probably some black powder loads for it somewhere , considering the cartridge goes back to about 1904- as to whether they'll function the action, that's probably another story- maybe an old luger, or something from that vintage

Could probably reach out and catch it, the case is so small there wouldn't be enough powder. I have my muzzle loader ready for the doomsday, also I would like to get a flint lock for that scenario.

"...considering the cartridge goes back to..." BP was long gone in military firearms by 1904. The 9mm never used BP in any pistol. Like ckid says, any 9mm pistol would foul to a stop quickly.

Don't do it....not with an autoloader anyways....fouling would tie up the gun and all internals would get soiled and start to corrode if not cleaned thoroughly, i'm talking the trigger group and everything. In a revolver it would be okay to reload any cartridge with black, though ballistics would be weak out of such a small cartridge. Using black powder in cartridges is a blast and what i do most of, but i would get yourself a Single Action revolver in some cal. you like(pref. 44/40,38/40, or .45 Colt.) some black powder, properly lubed, soft, cast bullets, and some cleaning supplies and have at 'er. Most fun you can have with your clothes on!

If it was an absolute, last chance, only weapon situation, It might be ok with lead bullets.(so in this apocalyptyic situation, you have a 9mm press, bullets, dies, cases, primers& black powder?!)
I enjoy playing with BP as much as anyone, (and have a suitably unhealthy imagination!), but there are good reasons why black powder has been left behind.
In reality, shotguns would be just as available, they"re very suited to BP use, and easier to load with basic tools.

regarding black powder

On the topic of doomsday scenarios........

What is the stuff in firecrackers? Is that considered black powder or similar?

Has anyone tried this stuff in cartridges ? Dumb question , I know, but I'm still curious...
