Can anyone help me find a black powder club/association in Ontario. I use to belong to a civil war reanactment group 25 years ago in the Newmarket area, but since lost track. I would like to start going to rendesvous again.

www.northernbrigade.org

Ive been a member for close to 4 years now, Its a collection of various different regiments and whatnot.

Our particular regiment is unique "I believe" as we still act as a honor guard for a active regiment!!

If you want more info feel free to pm me and I can get you in touch with the gentleman in charge of the press gang....er...I mean recruiting.

Its really fun, family oriented good times, If you get the ball rolling now it gives you the winter to gather a few things before the coming season starts in spring.

If anything else the 1764 manual of arms listed there is a great read for those with a military flintlock or even generally interested in military history can print a copy of it off, very interesting insight into continential warfare at the time.

Still havent found what I want. Went to a couple reenactments this summer (1812 war stuff) it was cool, and Wassaga Under Seige is well worth checking out on Nacy Island I really enjoyed the cannons. Also the 9 mile portage thing outside of Barrie is cool at Fort Willow (didnt know it existed until this summer). But I'm still looking for the Buckskin .pioneer rendezvous type of thing (smaller investment....red uniforms are expensive) and I dont like parades and such. Theres a bunch of orginizations and groups in the states but cant seem to be able to find anything here??......someone help...I know youre out there....lol.

Redevous options

Hi

You may want to check out the National Muzzle-Loading Rifle Association in the States. They're located in Friendship Indiana - which is a bit of a haul - but they do have two great shoots a year (including buckskinning) and are a terrific source of information on other events running around North America.
Membership is very inexpensive and you get a great magazine called "Muzzle Blasts" - check out their website.

Cheers

There is a private club near Owen Sound, contact Trois Castors on traditionalmuzzleloadingassociation.com for more info. I would be interested also in hearing about some Ont clubs, plan on visiting in June, and may as well bring my smokepole.
Cheers nessy.

Thanks all......
Ya Major519 ,it might have been that regiment? Back then a fellow named Ron Pickering kinda recruted me and took me under his wing. Did a few cool mid war reenactments, in the states the best one I can remenber was Genesee county pioneer village. Mumford and here in Stoufville/Uxbridge pioneer village.

I am also central Ontario and have similar interest in seeing a buckskinners or rendevous group here. Did you ever think of starting one up?

ya I've thought of it and I think Fort Willow would be a great spot to have a Buckskin rendezvous, after all it was a trading depot. Im just too busy right now to start something.........what about you?

It has crossed my mind, perhaps. I am relatively new to the whole buckskinning thing, mostly just been shooting my BP rifles etc. Have been in shooting sports for years and just returning to it after many years of being out.

My area here, North Bay, is full of history etc as well.
