It absolutely is measured by weight.Fill the case with powder with it slightly compressed. Black powder is done by volume not weight. 3f is the better choice.
All my black powder loading is done by volume not weight If you want to actually weigh the powder after the case is full that’s up to you. As long as that case holds the same and compressed the same your good to go.It absolutely is measured by weight.
That's all well and good, you stated as a definitive that "black powder is done by volume not weight" which is a popular misconception and one I think worth correcting. I'm not trying to be pedantic just making sure current/future readers are aware. Grain is an avoirdupois system expression of mass as opposed to a volumetric measurement like the cubic inch. If a powder measure is marked to "50 grains" this is an estimated average volume occupied by whatever powder(s) the person marking it used as their reference. Goex FFG is a different density than Swiss FFG and they will take up different amounts of volume for the same mass. There is no industry agreed upon standard for granulation size, density, or burn rate. All my black powder loading is done by volume not weight If you want to actually weigh the powder after the case is full that’s up to you. As long as that case holds the same and compressed the same your good to go.
Yes, that's similar to what I was loading in 450 Adams which I made from 455 MK II brass trimmed slightly shorter. Just seat your bullet to match the height of the powder.Would 13 grains of triple f powder be all right
That’s what I use.Would 13 grains of triple f powder be all right
