Black Powder Long range Muzzleloader

In Canada, believe that the only formalized BP events are local "Rendezvous"; period weapons (sidelock), period dress, and real BP. They actually look like a lot of fun, bit I would get run off if I uncased my inline.

The Dominion of Canada Rifle Association (DCRA) did up until last year hold a Black powder event during the annual prize meetiing. Most of the rifles were BP cartridge but I remember seeing one guy with a front stuffer. Matches were shot from 300m-900m.
If you go to the DCRA web page you will find some information in regards to if these matches will be held again in the future, www.dcra.ca

Hi sir,

I thank you for the informations.

I am wonderring if long range black powder is still alive at the DCRA:

It would be just too bad: I am trying to shoot for competition in that field.

Best regards

Gerald,
I would suggest you contact Chris Jones at the email that he listed in that letter. In order for the DCRA to host these matches people must show an interest and commit to shooting the events.

That's great; Chris needs 12 entrants, in order for him to revive the Black Powder matches this year. I shot the BP matches in 1993 and 1994, they are great fun, with a great group of fellow shooters.

Hi,

Up to now, I seem to be the only BP LRML in Quebec city... But, as you know Black Powder is a toxi dependant thing ... and, I hope, i will get some Quebec ex long range BB shooters to come back in...

But, in the mean time, I am learning all alone in my corner...

I am very glad to see that oher shooters are in the BP box... LOL LOL

If have a 600 yards range where to practice in Quebec city (when there is not too much snow).

I will do my best to learn to shoot my Gibbs at such distance and, I dream of, I will go to Chris competition in Ottawa.

Would like to see you there... like other BP LRML or CRBP shooters...

Best regards.
