What is "triple 777 muzzleloading FFG powder"? Can you safely use it in a cannon?

I know it weighs less than standard BP yet has slightly more power than BP and is made by the same company as Pyrodex. As well as costing twice as much as standard Black Powder, BUT it doesn't have that Sulphur smell and can be cleaned easily with hot water.

Like alot of those Bp substitutes, you need more flame to ignite, like an Inline using 209primers, i wouldn't use it with cartridges or old style muzzleloaders.

Playing with 777 in a cannon could be hazardous to your health. Of all of the BP substitutes I trust it the least as it developes more pressure than BP and is very touchy if compressed or loaded too heavily. Dave

Well thanks for all the info. I had heard that when using 777 to reduce your load and I read allot about it being more powerful than even pyrodex and thats why I posted here inquiring.

Well it doesnt matter, the only Triple 7 that's in stock is FFFG :(

There is no FG or FFG in all of BC it seems.....

Are you ever in the lower mainland? You can get real black (Goex) from

Good people to deal with and they'll have pretty much any granulation in stock.

Chris.
