Black powder....

I have recently been given some unopened cans of BP. The price as marked is $3.95 so that will give an indication of age. Is it apt to be good? How could I test it before loading in my ML? Dave

If its unopened,, its good. Black powder ages very well if sealed.

Civil War shells are sometimes dug and the PB is still good if no water got inside!! Same thing for Napoleonic War shells!! As long as no moisture gets to it, PB lasts forever...

Good as made yesterday. Price suggests late 70's early 80's .
I remember $4 a can.

Thanks guys for the interest and the answers. I will now open a can and try it in my Pedersoli "Gibbs". The brand is "Meteor" made by C.I.L. Ammunition Company and the more familiar "Goex" made in Moosic, Pennsylvania. Cans are like new on the outside with no moisture damage. Thanks again .... Dave
