Its banging the butt off a hard object while your right hand is ont he cocking handle -- the added momentum with the abrupt stop will give you the leverage to clear pretty much anything -- or rip the rim off -- which in that case - its cleaning rod time.

As far as I know it came out of the USMC FR guys (hence Deck)-- Pat Rogers was the first to mention in training circles that I know of.

Works well for shotties too.



For the record, my AR hasn't had any issues with being dropped in a puddle, and a muddy one at that. :D

I learned something new today, guess it'll be worth a try next time the SKS stovepipes before pulling out the rubber mallet.:dancingbanana:
