Black Rifle of yesterday = sporting rifle of today

To portray AR's as "sportsman’s rifles" is a good strategy to eventually get them unrestricted. It will be an uphill battle though.
Great post GT.

great post, I've been trying to explain exactly that to my old man for years.
I like my 700, but would prefer hunting with an AR for sure.

hat's off to "fudd" in the video.

Gotta love that LAST point (starts at about 4 min in) in that video!!!

Hell, I'd take that R-25 in .308 Win out after elk any day of the week (even if it only holds 5 rounds. More than that into one animal means too much meat damage anyway!!)

Uh... ARs were marketed as sporting rifles before adoption by the US military during Vietnam (ie before they became, black guns, military wpns)

I hunted with AR's and many 'black' rifles for years with 20 and 30 round mags before they went restricted and some prohib . The world never ended .

We need to show videos like this to many more people, especially ones on the fence about the "AR" thing (fudds)

Well, I watched it, and though I'd like APs to be non-restricted, I personally see no reason to take one into the bush. I'm happy with a bolt action, and would feel kinda goofy about replacing it with the more complex AR system.

To each his own, though.

Check out a similar article that will see print in the new issue of the Canadian Firearms Journal Oct./Nov. that went to the publishers a few weeks back. Should be hitting mailboxes shortly.

I remember a time when we could hunt with our AR-15s and funny enough, our streets and neighbourhoods remained just as safe despite the fact that we regularly transported "machineguns" (as Liberal Party leader Iggy calls them) over/through them for legitimate hunting purposes.

The AR-15/AR-10 is no more complex than your run of the mill Remington 7400 or Browning BAR semi-auto rifle. Would you feel goofy hunting coyotes or deer with either the Remington or Browning or the host of other self-loading hunting rifles available today? For small shooters and those more recoil-sensitive, i.e., injuries, etc...a semi-auto is far more comfortable to shoot than a standard bolt action as there can be a significant reduction in recoil. The semi-auto also allows for faster follow-up shots on wounded game or multiple animals, i.e., coyote/varmint hunting.

I remember doing some yote control with an FN :D

I have a R-15 in 223 that would be nice for yote conrtol, and I am still thinking that an R-25 in 7-08 would make a great deer gun.

Perhaps in a year or 2 we will be able to hunt with them again
