Thanks for all the replies guys. You confirmed what I expected, now just to decide on classic green or black.

As far as HK, it is nothing against the performance, I just don't like the way they look and feel.

There is a stock adapter thats available that makes the SL8 look like a normal rifle that uses AR-15 pistol grips and buttstocks.

I would suggest trying one of each that you are considering before you decide. The ergonomics of the XCR can't be beat and you get a lot of gun. Rails, caliber conversion kits, great takedown/simple design.

But I gotta say, I got to try a SIG green and it took a long while for the giant teepee in my pants to go down. It is one sweet gun. I still like my XCR better though.

Ultimately you gotta try before you buy if you wanna be happy with your purchase.

SIG/Swiss Arms hands down. AR-180B & XCR aren't in the same class.

I'd recommend one of the limited run 1:7 twist barreled models from TSE. The best versitility for shorter (lighter) or longer (heavier) bullets.

Wrong, it makes it look like ...... something from the heavens Allows you to mount an AR-15 grip and stock.

I went with the Black Special Target. It fits my criteria perfectly. I am fairly high on the xcr list as well so I will no doubt buy one of those when they arrive for a cqb type rifle complete with redot and sh*t hanging off it everywhere. (I am gonna need a night job)

As far as the sl-8 is concerned, I phoned about the HERA kit and its over $600 It doesn't include a buttstock, and I'm still not sold on the end result.

Get a Sig Carbine. Best of the bunch, and you'll be able to share mags between the two rifles.

Ar-180- good gun. accurate. lowest buy in price. needs some mods (rail for optics) etc, has plastic lower. takes AR mags. (1/9 twist amredsask?)

XCR- mid priced. accurate. can change calibers. Hbar, gun is heavy. 1/9 twist, quad rail. many people hate robarm, and for good reason. My xcr runs good. takes Ar mags.

Sig pe90- highest price. needs rail for optics (maybe they come with rail now). 1/10 twist. veyr accurate. very heavy. built in bi-pod. takes it's own mags, which are pricier than AR mags.

I am holding off on a rifle purchase and waiting to see if LWRC get their export paperwork issues resolved.

They have a nice range of short stroke gas piston AR rifles, available in 5.56 and the new 7.62. The problem is that they market their rifles as "M4 replacements" and the US state department did not like this description when it came time to export them. They will have to rename the rifle, do some minor changes, and re-submit it for export approval.

Around $2000-$2400 for their gas piston ARs, which is a lot less then the $4200 HK wants for their civilian HK416.

No that shouldn't be considered a variant. It better damn well be non res with a 18.5" barrel
