blackfeather stock arrived!

All we need is a half dozen martini's and I think we have the makings of The Real Housewives of CGN haha...

Anyway, does anyone have pics of the oprod guide installed? What about barrel/trigger group fitment? I'd be curious to see how tightly everything is machined and if there is any necessity for further bedding...

I'm gonna bet that the price is of little concern to the vast majority who like and want this stock.

we have all been used to paying in excess of 850.00 for anything evn close to a chassis in aluminum..... given those come wth handguards.
but have you ever tried to import a troy, sage or say a vltor or mcmillan?
ask giwolf or otokiak how much thier mcmillan mfs-14 stocks cost them hehehe

and for my part in the derailment in this thread....... too late to edit it away so it stays LOL but any issue i have with that certain someone is fading and it should not be perceived as an issue with frank or his business or his stock.
I'm a skeptic by nature so any product that promises to be the next best thing comes under heavy scrutiny. szhit loads of m14 nuts email me daily for questions on products so i only recommend what i 'know' works. can't fault the nonbelievers, and if the stock lives up to it's advertising...... it should be kick ass and the true non belivers will eat some crow hehehehe

Price around there is fine as long as it is proven to work and its quality and once it's settle down.
What I'm concerning about is there is no solid market user reviews yet and It is only first productions were released; 100 of them that I know of, and its price has changed already which make me worries about to MUST BUY IT NOW. I thought pre-order privilege was including CASM mount but price will be same anyways. I am still waiting for decent reviews with more variety of pics for judgement but can't help I'll wait longer to see nice deal of this stock if it occurs. I only hope this because first pre-order privilege was nice and I'll remember it was 30$ cheaper not long ago.
 
One of the big deciding factors for me was MADE IN CANADA. Fit and finish are fantastic. Lock up for my trigger group was goot and tight. I have to wait for a few pieces before I can show complete pics or do a range report.

Do you use DA brass often? I'm just curious if you know of an extreme powder that will make good groups with this. I'm thinking H4895 and 150 & 165g interlocks, have you tried that?

EDIT: I try to use the extreme powders, just because I hunt in a lot of different climates (high & low elevation, rain / sun, etc). My load development on the malahat can turn into different results if I'm shooting at sea level, and so I tend to shy away from 4064 and imr4895 etc

Well this thread has taken a bit of a side track, but everybody loves more gun pics! So here is a few of mine. Almost finished, just waiting on a UTG rail and a Smith Navy brake. Still deciding on optics... what would you choose if this was your rig? I was thinking something along the lines of 4-16x50 or maybe a 2.5-10.

I probably shoud've mentioned that everything went together without a hitch. Reading instructions is definitely a must. The fit with the reciever is extremely tight. Not so bad that it is difficult to remove the action from the stock, but there is absolutely no play whatsoever. Also, the trigger group locks in much tighter that before. It takes a decent amount of force to "cam over" the trigger gaurd to get it to lock in. All of this adds up to one really tight rig. I haven't shot it yet, but I like it so far.

On mine I have a 6-25x. Probably a little overkill since the max I can shoot at my range is 300-400yds. Always nice to have more magnification though.

I'm not a huge fan of vertical hand grips but it seems to belong on your rig. It looks great. I'm curious on how the whole rig performs. Keep us up to date.

I have a 6-25x millet that isn't doing anything right now other than being an excellent paper weight. I'm going to mount it up just for kicks to see if it might work, only issue with it is that it's a monster of a scope and I think it might look a little out of place as well as tip the scales in the weight department. We'll see.

As soon as I get the last of the parts early next week and get some glass mounted I will start a new thread with pics of the finished rig as well as a range report. Can't wait for that Navy brake :D

That's the scope in running is a 6-25x millet. I really like it on there, sat way to high with the standard rings but with the low rings it's much better.
 
Ya I was sure that those rings would be waaay too high. Did you get 35mm low rings from millett or somewhere else? I found a pair of medium 35mm rings from Vortex but they're $230.

All I've done is open the box and lay everything on the table. Not sure if it's one that's missing items but I'm sure they will follow as per Frank's notification.
Gotta say, after a cursory inspection, pretty nice ;)
Instructions appear very well done and totally geared for anyone to read and install.
That's all I'm gonna post by way of "review comments". I'll leave it to others to share thiers.

Blueoval, the millets have performed well for many guys I know. They are a tad heavy but the do seem to stand up. Hungry and I as well as many others swear by the leupold mark 4's but not always within everyone's budget on a semi auto rig.

I had a hard time finding low rings as well that weren't 250 bucks. I managed to find low millet rings from a us supplier and they're less than a $100 so they can come across the border. I can pm you the supplier if you want, they're not a sponsor so don't want to post a link.

Thanks 45ACPKING, I've been happy with the Millett, I had it on a Savage F/TR for a while and it was great other than the stock rings that come with it are way too high even for a bolt gun with a one piece base. I think I will save up for a Mark 4 but for now I'll try the Millett. The "gun fund" has taken a decent hit after all parts for this rig thus far. The Navy brake and the PRS stock added up to almost as much as the stock lol. But I wanted to build it a certain way and I don't like to compromise unless I have too.
I think I can live with the weight for now, I'm building it as a fun coyote rig/ anything rifle with most of my shooting either prone with a harris or sitting on a hill with shooting sticks.
