I really like the look of the blackfeather but thought the CASM scope mount sets the scope up pretty high . If I was to build one I feel I would go this route with a Factory made Shorty in it.

What height rings?

It's the blackfeather stock from Frank at m14.ca. I put a magpul CTR butstock with a 3/4inch riser and now I can get a good cheek weld on it as appossed to the chin weld before.

Tactical, what height scope rings are you using? My setup is similar to yours. I'm using medium rings and want to order a Magpul cheek rest but was undecided whether to get a 1/2 in. or 3/4 in. riser.

They are low millet 35mm rings and a 3/4 inch cheek riser.

Personally I would go with the high temp stuff as the red would really pop. Although you can still use the stock handguard, a blackfeather handguard is due soon.

Why would you use silicone? I've used RTV silicone to make molds and it seems way to pliable for that purpose.

The (UL-M) ACE Ultra Light Modular Fixed butt stock can be purchased via the Brownells' Special Order Dept.. They will order in from Ace Ltd. and arrange shipping for you from Brownells. I beleive it costs approx. $40 over retail with shipping using USPS Priority Parcel (least expensive option). I hope that helps. Cheers, Frank

Yep, it will. Had one on mine for a bit before switching to an EMod.

I just had delivered 2 weeks ago my Black Feather RS, and after having difficulty with the install brought it to my local gunsmith. The Gun Smith is reporting that the receiver does not fit with the Black Feather RS, without doing some serious cutting.

I called Frank at M14.ca, but it looks like he wont accept a return on the Black Feather. I`ll let you know as more information comes available.

The Gun Smith is reporting that the receiver does not fit with the Black Feather RS, without doing some serious cutting. Paul, as mentioned on the telephone, I do not accept returns on Blackfeather RS stocks that are scratched and/or damaged during an attempted installation nor are stocks eligible for return or refund after the 14-day return period (from the day we shipped your stock, not from the date of order in this case as Blackfeather RS stocks shipped well after order placement). The M14.ca Return Policy is located here. Notwithstanding, at the time of your call at 5:56am in BC (6:19am as I posted) I did not have all of the information from your gunsmith. I am awaiting his telephone call now.

That's unfortunate, mine went together easily. ORG took some fitting but receiver fits nice and tight and trigger locks up great.
