Oh lord... The never ending circle of online ranting... Give it two weeks and it will subside.
So much fail...IBTLOp asked for facts about the holster. He got plenty, unfortunately they weren't the ones he wanted to hear. Even the op rewcognizeas that everyone is entitled to their opinion, so I simply offered both facts and my opinion.

Yup.... You listen good tdc. But why would you listen to anyone since you obviously know everything better than anyone else here..
For reference serpa holsters were issued to many many people. And yes there were NDs that may have been in part due to the serpa design. However the hate for them is unfounded in my opinion because the serpa serves a purpose...
And for many private citizens it is to hold a pistol. It does that...
4 million sold... Few issues with injury... But overall an effective piece of kit.
Yes there are better things for tactical operators.... Yes there are better things for police....
And yes there are better things for joe civie on the Sunday range.
But blanket statements saying they are dangerous pos holsters are knee jerk reaction.
Training schools that "ban" them do so for their own reasons. I would likely ban them too if I was training unknown shooters in high tempo environments.
However, as has been said before, many many people have carried, used, and relied on serpa holsters for real situations.
Are there better? Safer? Or more effective holsters? Yes.
But ultimately it is up,to the operator to run what works for them.

My father and I both have glock g20's, with fairly hot handloads for punching paper because... Why the f not!
My father picked up a serpa, we've both fiddled with it for fun but it's never left the gun room at his home.
Neither of us scour the landscape testing products, it was in our local store and it's very rare to see any accessories for the 20 so he grabbed it.
I personaly couldn't see myself having an nd with the serpa. I've got smallish hands, the 20 is large, my finger is fully extended to unlatch and it's no where need the trigger unless I change that. I can see where a large hand can go wrong.
Anyways enough of that.... Bottom line...if one were to want the most secure 1st, quickest 2nd what would it be.
I am not up to date with who makes what, no loyalty or cares. Only meeting my preferences is all that matters. Ps the finish on the gun does not matter in the least, line the holster with sand paper for all I care...

If there are safer and better holsters then why buy a serpa?? Sales alone do not validate a product, sadly that's what many use as a guide. The serpa appears to work for the op to transport to the backstop and back. But a sheep skin glove or a fleece blanket would do the same thing and for far less coin. People buy serpa's to look cool when in fact its a big neon sigb that says "I have no idea what I'm doing".

From the guy who said the sks , McDonald's and kia's are crap you come across as a elitist snob. Just because there are better more expensive options out there does not mean that everyone has to buy them less they be inferior to you and your never ending expertise. The sks is a great rifle and the serpa is a functional holster.
The cost of a good holster is equal to that of a serpa. Some cost less and if you don't shop around a good holster can be had for not much morwe than a serpa. The op admits that cost wasn't a factor so his reasoning comes down to two factors, the serpa is "non marring" and/or "I haven't a clue what I'm doing and it looked cool".

Another thread was talking about ND's with Glocks in police hands. Perhaps they were issued serpas? lol
The ones who purchase equipment are not the ones who use it or conduct the training. Much like the mil, the wrong people are in charge of procurement.
