I have recently found myself in possession of a quantity of soft lead suitable for blackpowder bullets.
It’s in sheets like roof flashing, & buried cable insulation. Plus there is a big round heavy ashtray like slab.
Not sure if there are enough black powder casters out there, as I think many just buy suitable balls.

I could melt this & blend it with my range lead ingots, pewter & cast it into the bullets I usually use. But it seems that this soft stuff is ideal for BP casters. Question: are there black powder casters out there?

I didn’t post it for sale on the EE, I was only looking for thoughts on disposal. Trying to decide whether I should blend it with my other stuff, or keep it pure. Plus no gun shows where it’s a better venue. But I see where it could be confusing or leading. Not my intention.
Apologies, I will modify my post......

Serious BPCR shooters go through a lot of 350-550grain bullets and many like to mix their own alloys. Musket shooters are similar in some circles.

Lots of people buy a box of round balls and shoot for a couple years. At my house 200lb of pure lead lasts 2 or 3 years depending on how many events we get to. I'm always looking for more pure lead at reasonable prices in the Calgary and Lethbridge area.

I accidentally fell into a good source of 30/70 solder, substantially more than I need for my own use. do BP shooters have any need of this product or should I look elsewhere to horsetrade or sell it.

To buy pure tin from the store was around $28/lb and the reason many go looking for pewter at the thrift stores. It's the 1 part in the common 20-1 or 16-1 mixtures in BPCR bullets. Tin adds a little bit of hardness but is very useful for reducing the surface tension which gives better mold fill-out.

Many who are looking for pure lead will be happy to find the solder as well. Judging by the couple ads for pewter on the EE it's not selling fast.
