Blacktails .... it's that time of year again

Yup I actually hunt fairly close to where you are talking those roads are still their, they actually logged farther back so getting back in their is easier but I have yet to see someone hike in where I hike it’s still about 2- 3.5 hour hike, probably where you hiked back in the day, I also hunt the alpine close to town on the same side of the road, I got a few spots down lower that are good first two weeks of November, for bucks cruising the ridges rutting trying to find does,

have lots of trail cams out their usually their is a few monsters on their, it can be spotty though, one of these years I will try hunting up towards where you go I have heard and seen some really nice bucks come out of their as well and also a better deer density also sometimes it’s nice to try new areas as I’ve been pounding the valley out here pretty hard for the last 15 years

Ya chilliwack valley was my playground for several years when I lived in sardis back in the 90's. Fished the river there every season for pretty much 3 decades. Back in the earlier days they still had forest fire "watch" up in chillwack/vedder mountain area. The most senior man was also an avid steelheader and we got along really well. The old coffee shop/restaruant that was across from the gun club was always a place to meet back then. He showed me some interesting maps and lots of talk of deer and bears. He was the first one to tell me tha there are also elk, moose and grizzly bear that pass thru the chilliwack valley. I have seen all three up there over the years. 6 elk on the low ground opposite site of the river from the hatchery. There is a homestead back in there and they were on the trail where i damn near walked into them in the dark one morning. My thought was.... my god those are big deer...... then I realized what I was looking at. Several years later a cow moose and 2 calves crossed the river in the flats below the Allison pools while we were fishing for springs. Saw the collared grizzly up at the back end of the lake one year while camping. Had to get there by boat because they had the road closed at the chilliwack lake campground.
We also used to hike into that same area from the other side, off the Silver Skagit road. There used to be a pretty good trail.
Google earthed chilliwack lake after posting earlier and I see that new logging up in there....... hmmm that makes me want to go there hehehe

Dang I miss bc just by those pictures

I see bc all the time in movies, TV shows too

Black tails are pretty small you ever thought of a 45 super pcc to blast them at those ranges?
Sitka Blacktail are small...... Coastal mountain Blacktail are quite a bit larger and only slightly smaller than the average mule deer.
I've had dogs bigger than Sitka Blacktail. I'd use an appropriate caliber PCC for Sitka's...... not for coastal blacktail. That's just me though.

Ah I didn't realize there was a difference and I only have hunted Sitka's

I think if I make another trip over to Haida Gwaii for Sitka Blacktail , a pcc in 10mm or like you say , 45 super would be awesome to hunt with.
Might just have to pic up a pcc this winter to play with. Been thinking about it for a while now actually.
