Having a possible issue with my new DOH holster for SIG P226.

Because of the outward cant of the holster, I'm not 100% sure that the set-up satisfies IPSC's "max 50mm away from torso" requirement.

"5.2.5 Where a Division specifies a maximum distance that a competitor's handgun and equipment may extend away from a competitor's body, a Range Officer may check compliance by measuring the closest distance between the competitor’s torso and the center of the longest dimension of the handgun grip and/or any reloading devices.

5.2.5.1 The measurement is to be taken while the competitor is standing naturally upright."

So far, assuming I'm measuring from the geometric centre of the inner grip plate, my measurement hovers around the 50mm limit. Will I have issues during the equipment check at high level matches?

And I know many shooters are using the DOH holster, can anybody provide some torso-to-grip measurements for comparison and/or pics of their set-up?

Thanks,

If there is a bunch of wiggle room between the widest part of the grip and your body then you have an issue. s bit of foam rubber on the inside of the holster body should change the angle enough for you to pass.
The distance isn't just checked at higher level matches either, it is less of a headache if you run your gear so it conforms at all levels:)

That bladetech holster is very popular in IPSC production division. Wihtout seeing how your specific rig fits you i could not say for certain but even at level 3 matches where competitors are scrutinized a bit i have never heard of anyone being tossd into open for using that holster.

Thanks for input guys,

I recently tried to cinch my inner and outer belts tighter for more security and consistency; it rides a little higher up my waist, but at least now it's not flirting with that 50mm limit as much anymore.

Thanks again!

Remember the 50mm rule has leeway. Skinny guys get away with more due to anatomical design. Even Vince says so.

fat guys can get away with more offset holsters, but are held more rigidly to the rule of 50mm or less. Skinny guys wearing the same holter as me shouldn't be (and usually won't be unless someone is a ####) held to the same rule. It's a dicey area though, as people with adjustable cant holsters can argue it's set the same as some fat guy, but with the DOH holster I'm certainly not going to care if someone is 65mm whatnot.

I'm told you can take the mount for the holster off, boil water and then put the mount in hot water, then stand on it to take some of the curve out.I have not tried it yet but was told this by the dealer I got my holster from.
