Being new to it, so go easy... I'm hoping (still) to get my GP6-C ready for a BB course Nov.19, so trying to figure out what equipment I'd need for IPSC (and maybe IDPA later on) Production. I'm looking (mostly) at the DoubleTap, to save time if I decide to place an order.

1. Which version of DOH holster should I order? Trying to figure out the difference between just a DOH, DOH with Tech-Lock, DOH with SR loop... DOH WTF???

2. I need 4-6 mag pouches. Is there much of a difference what to use, like would Ghost be as good as Double Alpha? Does anyone use mag pouches or is that for Open?

3. Double Alpha belt? The site talks about the overlap section that's smaller in size 34 & under. Well, I 'hover' between 34 & 36, should I then pick 34 or 36? Since I have one, just wondering if a regular 511 belt would work, or am I being too cheap?

TIA.

My 0.02..

1) If planning on shooting IDPA, I'd suggest DOH with TecLok, DOH piece will have to be removed (it's removable) for IDPA and TecLok makes it fast and easy to put holster on and off the belt.
2) You'll need 5 pouches idealy, DAA pouches are good, CRSpeed are also good, never saw people use Ghost pouches, must be a good reason for that.
3) Buy belt 1 size larger, so it'll be 36, outer belt will go over inner one and needs to be longer as they are thick, thus 1 size over. If 511 belt is very sturdy and 1 3/4" or less in width - you can use it for IDPA. DAA belt is 1.5" and can be used only in IPSC as IDPA doesn't allow two-belt system.

I believe that the holsters Doubletap have in stock are the ones you want, J only stocks the competitive stuff that is actually being used in matches, and I'm pretty sure he only has the one style on hand. Give him a shout and he can tell you for sure.
Any of the pouches you listed will work fine and you need 4 or 5 at most.
If you are between 34" and 36" most belts will need to be one size larger. I'm a 36" and I usually get 38" or 40" to give enough overlap with the underbelt as it adds to your waist size. A 38" should work for you.

Oh yeah, get that Arredondo mag brush, they are very handy with cleaning mags after they dive into sand/dirt/gravel...

I have the DOH with Tek Loc and found it flopped around too much when moving. Ordered the Sting Ray belt loop and took off the Tec Lok. Seems more stable now.

I bought all my equipment from Josko...

- DAA belt
- Ghost mag pouches x 5
- Bladetech DOH (sits alittle lower and away from your hip, mine has no loop or straps)....
- .... upgraded to a Ghost Holster
- Mag brush
- Speedloader for you mags... it'll save your thumb and fast to load
- Josko's own "secret" gun oil.... get the clear bottle so you know it's the real deal....:p :)

Suggestions:
- Grip enhancement tape or the bottled stuff
- DVD's... Saul Kirsh IPSC Coaching, 3GM.... 3GM2 is ok but the other two are the best.

I is worth to mention, that if you are planning to shoot Production division in USPSA - Ghost Holster will put you into a Standard/Limited division.

No problems with the Tecloc here. But I used longer set screws to "pack" the buckle to the belt so it woudn't shift. The ones that came stock were not long enough to get a good bite into the belt.

Having just started in IDPA as well I'd suggest you just get a second holster altogether. Most of the guys I'm shooting with are using just regular belts with the IDPA spec mag pouches and a paddle holster for OWB carry.

Mag pouches will need to be different for both events to get the best performance. For IDPA they need to hold the mags close to the body and cover a significan't portion of the magazine. For IPSC they allow the mags to be spaced out. This allows the mags to be located, gripped and extracted quicker. So you really end up with two separate rigs although you CAN use an IDPA setup in IPSC if you want. It's just that it likely won't be as quick to use as the more spaced out IPSC specific setup. At least that is what I've found.
