I posted awhile ago about how I wanted to find a holster foir my girlfriend's Beretta 90-two. There didn't seem to be that much on the market, but I saw that you could order one direct from Bladetech in Washington state. A couple people on here mentioned that they are good to deal with and quite fast. I have now found this out for myself. The holster that I ordered was the SRB (Stingray Belt Holster). Here's what it looks like:

While I was at it, I decided to pick up a decent holster for my HK P2000 as well. I have a Safariland holster for it, but I don't really like it because it has the rotating hood, and while those may look cool, they are not all that practical for range work.

One interesting thing about the two holsters, the Beretta holster is damn near twice the size of the P2000 holster! I still haven't figured out why my girlfriend likes big guns and I don't. (insert "girls love big/long guns" joke here).

Something that a few of you guys may be wondering about (and I was too), what is the difference between an SRB holster and the 5.11 Tactical series made by Bladetech? Well price is the first big difference. For the 5.11 series: $29.99US; For the SRB: $62.95US on the Bladetech site. The prices of the 5.11 holsters are (or were) the same at Dave's Surplus as ordering direct.

The other big difference is selction: 5.11 holster are just for really common guns: the most common models of GLOCK, SIG, 1911, and XD. The SRB holsters are available for something like 100 models (check their site, I think you have to start out like you are going to order one to see the full drop menu).

I have a 5.11 for SIG 229 and now an SRB for HK P2000. They look fairly similar.

One thing I didn't even think of before I ordered the SRB for the P2000, is that the SRB's have a closed in clam shell-type front. My "Canadianized" P2000 with the longer barrel wouldn't fit into the holster - so I had to bubba it with an x-acto knife and some finishing sandpaper. I'm not sure I'm finished with the work, but it works well now and it looks pretty decent. If anyone is thinking of ordering one of these in Canada, keep this in mind (other guns with exended barrels too for this model of holster). The 5.11 series has no such problem. They are wide open at the front, so they are a good fit for GLOCK 19/23 and SIG 229. I was thinking of getting an SRB for my SIG P239 TAC, but now I need to find out if they offer a holster for the threaded barrel.

Here are a few more pics. Nice basic, simple holsters. I recommend them for anything where you are not climbing, rolling around, etc. where you might lose the gun, because retention is fairly minimal with these holsters - which is what you want for the range.

Here is a link to a video of me using the 5.11 holster with the 229:

I'm really happy with the Bladetech I got for my P99. They are easy to deal with and very friendly on the phone. The package came marked "plastic holder" on the customs form which I'm sure helped it avoid a slow down for inspection.

You can make it quite tight if you crank those screws down if you want more retention.

I think the 5.11 ones are injection molded plastic, and not at all the same thing.

Comp-Tac makes good holsters too, I love their single mag with quick on/off clip for $25USD.

Shipped within a week or so too.

thanks for the write up ghostie, arent the srb kydex ? from the pics the one for you p2000 (besides the enclosed barrel problem) looks to be far better quality than the one for your sig,
i played with a friends m&p 9 blackhawk holster with the serpa button release i know its a few bucks more than the 5.11 sig one you have, but i think its a better bet, however you just turned me on to bladetech, its nice to hear a canadian friendly company down south and the one for you p2000 looks really nice, congrats on the bladetechs .. but id get upgrade that 5.11 one ;)
