Does anybody here have one and if so, what do you think? I've looked at a few reviews on YouTube but it would be nice to hear of a first hand report from CGN.

there is always a few for sell here on EE if they were that good the people wont let them go. sellers remorse lol ...

the 830, 93 and R8 was an answer that for the moment we do not have to worry in Canada yet. the limitation in Germany imposed on the numbers of rifle you can own without extra paperwork and police authorisation made the apparition of the frame and extra barrels, then a very good marketing the rest is history.

I have an R93 professional and I love it! I can disassemble the rifle, and even remove the scope, put it in a small case and when I reach my location pull it out, reassemble and never worry that its POI has changed at all. I also have come to love their bolt action - it's very fast and much easier to stay on target. Instead of buying other rifles where I have to get used to the different ergonomics of each stock design I purchase barrels in different calibers. Secondly the accuracy is amazing. Ellwood Epps carries them as does Wolverine. Yes, it may take a few months to order in specialty parts but I don't ever foresee going back. I will still keep one semi auto but other then that I really don't need anything else.

as for the R8, guys who I talk with like it better then their R93. If I had had the extra cash I would have went that route! He biggest difference they say is the higher capacity with magazine design, although the trigger assembly is part of the mag so it's a bit more bulky the a normal rifle mag. Bolt has slightly different design and I suspect for a hardcore target shooter/hunter who is cycling a lot of rounds through it each month there would be advantages. If you have the extra cash go for it!

There's no limit on the amount of hunting rifles you can own in Germany, better check your information sources.

I had an R93 for quite some time. Great gun, near perfect trigger, all barrels I had were near 1/2 MOA with factory ammo and often better with handloads.
The reason I got rid of it is because I didn't like swapping things around to get a new caliber, even though it's very fast. I just like grabbing a gun and heading out the door!

I love my Blasers (R93), for all the reasons outlined above. I guess the R8 is more of the same and better, although the detachable mag/trigger holds no appeal for me and the slightly increased bulk and weight are negatives. The R93 tops out at .416Rem, whereas the R8 can be outfitted with some really heavy hitters.

I think Phil has a Freudian slip in his post. "Seller's remorse"...I can believe that's true...when you sell a Blaser, you will regret it. I think you meant "Buyer's remorse", but I've never regretted getting into the Blaser system. I don't know about them being all that common on the EE. I'm always on the lookout for barrels and scope mounts and they seem as scarce as hen's teeth.

I still own and use some "typical" bolt-action rifles, but when you are accustomed to using a Blaser, hunting with a Tikka or a Mauser or whatever feels like just a small step above using a muzzleloader! :)

Porche, Ferrari, Audi A8...
If you can afford to buy one do so.
Its your choice to which gun you drive and each car/gun has a slightly different application.
Here in North America we have the luxury as they do in Europe of being able to hold in our hands many fine examples of firearms.
A Remington form the Remington Fine Gun Shop will be a very nice firearm, but a Blazer R8 will outshine it immensely.
Just my humbled Opinion.
I personally would take either fine examples into the woods for fear of thrashing the fine woodwork, but thats just me and my clumsy hands.
Tight Groups and Enjoy your R8,
Rob
