I had a change to shot several time at Genesee in Edmonton, I still find the Sako TRG some what more comfortable, no offense to the guy that own Blaser, still a top knot European Gun.

I just got a quote from R. Nicholls for ~6500 bucks for a LRS, a bit more he said for a TAC 2. They are the Canadian dealers for the Blasers. I want to start long range shooting soon myself, and since I'm in love with my R93, and it does glover leafs at 200, I was going to go for a LRS.

The only difference now between them is that all TAC 2 barrels come with pic rails and the LRS barrels use Blasers proprietary mounts and rings.

So you wanted to start long range shooting, and wanted to spend $6000 for a rifle, why not just get something of the rack rifle, spend some chunk of mola on nice optic.

I was going to buy a Blaser R93 LRS2 in .308.... but then I went and bought myself a Sako TRG-42 with optics in .300 winmag. I will just say that the Blaser is a GORGEOUS rifle (and if I had the cash I would get one as a brother to my TRG42), but I found the Sako to be a better deal and just as good of a rifle. Also, some people have complained about the R93's ergonomics (weird holding positon, odd cartidge ejection etc).

Still, if you can find a nice one, it's a good rifle. However, let me put it this way. if you are going for the 308 or 338, either way, for that amount of cash, go on the EE here and pick up a full on custom rifle. There's someone selling a beautiful 338 PGW (I know, I shouldn't promote people's stuff, but it's just an example!!!) or THIS.

Summing it up, at one point I was bitten by the R93 bug too...I REALLY wanted one...but I came to my senses, saved a sh*tload of money and got another rifle, that is just as good, for about 1/3 the price...maybe a tad more.

The receivers and barrels are not the same. The grooves in the receiver of the Tactical2 are much deaper then the LRS2. Thats why you can switch from .223 rem, .308win, 300wm and .338LM from the same stock, the standard LRS2 cant accept the 338LM barrel

The barrels of the Tac2 have a bigger diameter at the chamber compared to the R93 barrels, they all have the same diameter as the 338LM

Here my .308 Tac2

I put a left hand ejector, this way my brass eject in the little bag (like the one on AR's) on the left side of the rifle, it's very practical when hunting varmint in the winter time, you dont have to search your brass in the snow;)

I don't mean to highjack the thread, but it is still 1500$ more than a PGW Coyote. The Blaser is a good rifle, but one would have to work very hard to convince me that it is worthing 1.5 gran more than my PGW.

Overpriced in my book, but who am I to tell you not to buy what you really want. :p

Just my 2 cents!

When I bought my Coyote in 2005, the Blaser was quoted/ priced at CAD3999 from Ellps and Shooting Edge.. In US it listed at USD 2860 (2003 price).
Don't understand why the price skyrocketing during last couple years.
